Collection of Ship Models

The Lithuanian Sea Museum owns the largest collection of ship models in the country, presenting the development of navigation from a raft to a nuclear-powered ship. The first models were obtained in 1971. Authors of the most of the models are Aleksejus Domnenka, Vladimira Volokanov (Klaipėda, Lithuania) A.Misiūnas (Kaunas, Lithuania), Vladimir Korneičiuk (Vilnius, Lithuania), Viktor Shildknecht (Riga, Latvia), Jurij Perebeinos (Kiev, the Ukraine).

The collection contains 14 models of sailing ships, the Santa Marija, the Kobenhavn, the Kruzenstern being among them; 23 models of fishing boats and trawlers, totally counting 126 items.
Presently on the display there are 40 models. Digital copies of the models are available at the LIMIS.
