The Lithuanian Sea Museum, together with its partner the public institution “Elgesio sprendimai”, is launching a project aimed at strengthening the emotional well-being and social inclusion of families in the city of Klaipėda who are raising children with disabilities and/or individual needs. The aim of the project is to provide innovative and comprehensive emotional support and respite services for parents in Klaipėda who are raising children with disabilities and/or individual needs, as well as to strengthen the well-being and emotional resilience of children with mental health and behavioural disorders and their families.
The project seeks to reduce parental burnout, strengthen parents’ emotional well-being, increase their social engagement, and create more favourable conditions for children to participate in community life. The project responds to the growing need for emotional and psychosocial support among families raising children with mental health and behavioural disorders or individual needs. These families often face emotional and physical exhaustion, parental burnout, social exclusion, and limited opportunities to receive comprehensive support. The project aims to create an accessible, innovative, and community-based support model.
Target group: parents in the city of Klaipėda raising children with disabilities and/or individual needs, as well as families experiencing social exclusion.
The project will be implemented from 12 March 2026 to 31 March 2028. The total project value is EUR 50,066.66, of which EU funding amounts to EUR 34,000.00. The project is financed by the “Next Generation Lithuania” Economic Recovery and Resilience Plan and the Klaipėda City Municipality.
