This summer, the Lithuanian Sea Museum has some exciting news: starting June 2, the California sea lions are returning to Sun Bay! Throughout June, from Tuesday through Sunday at 12:45 p.m., we invite you to join us for educational open-air presentations.
This is a live encounter with some of the museum’s most charismatic residents. Visitors will meet Toras, Karis, Basta, and Čita—which one will you meet today? During the presentation, an educator will talk about these animals’ characteristics, behavior, and daily care at the museum. Meanwhile, the animal trainer, together with a sea lion, will supplement the story with various exercises and tasks.
One of the biggest advantages of these presentations is the opportunity to see the sea lions up close. You’ll be able to observe the animals not only on the Sun Bay stage but also at the glass wall of the pool. This is a great opportunity to see their agility and curiosity up close and get to know them better. And we’ll invite the most curious audience members to ask the animal trainer questions!
California sea lions have lived at the museum since 1996. In the wild, they are found along the Pacific coast from California to Mexico and are renowned for their excellent swimming skills, intelligence, and sociability. Due to their agility, they are often called true sea acrobats.
If you’re planning a visit to the Lithuanian Sea Museum in June, be sure to include a stop at Sun Bay in your itinerary. We look forward to seeing you at the Lithuanian Sea Museum—where every day brings new insights and discoveries!
! The presentations are in Lithuanian, but we invite you to scan the QR codes located in Sun bay—that way, you’ll have all the information right on your phone!
