Navigational devices and equipment

The collection started in 1975 presently counts 380 exhibits. Majority of the devices and equipment were made in the Soviet Union in 6-8 decades of the XX c.

The most valuable exhibits of the collection are compasses, sextants, direction finders, start globes, binoculars, and other navigational tools. Also there are meteorological tools that were used in the ships: wind gauges, barometers, barographs. After the naval frigate Zemaitis finished her service in 2008, the equipment from the ship numerously supplemented the collection of navigational devices and equipment; some of them are displayed in the exhibitions of the Museum.

18 exhibits of the collection have been borrowed by the museum of the Lithuanian Maritime Academy, the Museum of Ethnocosmology, and the exhibition in the bark Meridianas.
