Collection of Ethnography

First exhibits of the collection – fishing tools and equipment from the beginning of XX c. – reached the museum in 1972-1973. After it was decided to build an ethnographic fisherman’s farmstead in the place of former Kopgalis village in 1975, since the Collection of Ethnography have been accumulated purposely. The collection treasures authentic things and tools,  and  stories of old fishermen from Šventoji and Butingė region recorded by famous museologists Aloyzas Každailis, Edmundas Mačiulaitis in 1975-1976.
In 1988 the collection was supplemented by original tools of formerly famous shipbuilder Jonas Gižas from Dreverna.

The collection counts 400 exhibits.  100 out of them are displayed in the Museum. 11 exhibits were lent to the Gargždai Area Museum. 30 digitized exhibits of the collection are available at the LIMIS.
