Savanoriškos veiklos muziejuje tikslai ir principai:
- skatinti asmeninį tobulėjimą ir saviraišką;
- suteikti galimybę įgyvendinti savo iniciatyvas, prisidėti prie socialinių, bendruomeninių ir kitų veiklų muziejuje;
- formuoti pozityvų muziejaus įvaizdį, puoselėti muziejaus vertybes.
Dalyvavimo savanoriškoje veikloje reikšmė savanoriui:
- padeda jaustis reikalingu;
- padeda įgyti vertingų įgūdžių ir savybių, naudingų realizuojant savo lūkesčius;
- suteikia galimybių sutikti bendraminčių, įsigyti naujų draugų;
- išbandyti save naujose situacijose;

Savanorystės sritys:
- pagalba tvarkant dokumentus, lankytojų tyrimo organizavimas, fotografavimas, filmavimas;
- pagalba organizuojant renginius;
- lankytojų aptarnavimas, srautų valdymas ir informacijos teikimas;
- dalyvavimas edukacinių kūrybinių užsiėmimų planavimo ir įgyvendinimo procese;
- ūkinė veikla (aplinkos tvarkymas ir kt.);
kita veikla (vertimai, ataskaitų ruošimas, kompiuterinė veikla, pagalba prižiūrint gyvūnus, ir kt.).
