The collection contains the documents and printed materials related to the events of navigation history, sea trade, and seamen. The most valuable are the documents testifying the establishmnet of the Lithuanian shipping and the personal archives of seamen.

The archive by the Lithuanian captain Romanas Vilcinskas-Vilkas. During 1990–1998 the Lithuanian captain Romanas Vilcinskas-Vilkas was sending the Museum materials from his plentiful maritime archive. The archive included valuable material, originals of the documents related to the Lithuanian shipping history, correspondence between outstanding Lithuanian seamen, books and periodical publications. Among of the most valuable documents there was the original of the manuscript by the captain Teodoras Reingardas (1883-1947).

The archive by the engineer Romualdas Dačinskas contains historical material related to the history of the ports of Šventoji and Klaipeda, documents from the XIX–XX c.

The archive by the deep sea mater Juozas Karvelis. The deep sea master Juozas Karvelis, the signatory of the Act of the Re-Establishment of the State of Lithuania, belonged to the generation of the Soviet Lithuania shipping. After1990,  he was among the ones who initiated restoration of the Lithuanian Seamen‘s Union. The archive of the deep sea mater Juozas Karvelis contains resourceful documents, printed materials from the 7-9 decade of the XX c. Some documents and evidence reflect the development of the idea of maritime state in the legislation of Lithuania.

The collection preserving more than 6000 exhibits is being constantly researched, digitized, and published.
